Seven years after her very short marriage to Adeshola which saw her becoming a shadow of herself as her health and career suffered immensely, the Number 1 Nigerian Stand Up Comedienne, Princess Oluwadamilola Adekoya popularly known as “Princess” has finally made a full come back into the entertainment industry.
The dynamic entertainer has not only returned as a Stand Up Comedian cum Actor but also as a Chef and a full time Movie practitioner. Her first attempt at producing a movie was in 2009 when she featured big stars in Nollywood such as Desmond Elliot, Uche Jumbo, Bimbo Akintola, Ngozi Ezeonu and Eniola Olaniyan in “The Unsaid”, which according to her, “Alaba People” did not let it see the light of day.
After a long break from the entertainment industry, she first reintroduced herself in 2018 in a blockbuster movie titled “The Other Wife” produced by Kayode Peters. Followed by “Mumble Jumble” by Koffi Idowu Nuel. In 2019 she launched her restaurant “Princess’s Recipe” on Jumia and Konga foods respectively.
Almost immediately, she featured in a Yoruba blockbuster titled “Subuola” quickly followed by “Ponle” both produced by Funmilayo Omikunle. Later in the same year she played a fantastic role in “Traffic” a movie produced by Bukunmi Oluwashina.
Subsequently, the ever-smilling Princess and her crew stormed location this past week to shoot a true life story based on her bitter-sweet experiences and that of her friends in her new movie titled Body-Bag.
Body-Bag talks about several challenges in marriages especially domestic violence (not only physical) but other areas like emotional, verbal and psychological abuse. In this new flick, she shed light on some of the incidents in her short union noting that when a marriage fails both parties always have their faults no matter how small.
Body-Bag also details the role of religion, family and culture as contributing factors to the recent high rate of toxic unions and divorce. It’s a must watch. If you must know, Princess, was born in Lagos but she is from Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. She’s a graduate of Electrical Electronics Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State. She also has a B.A in Theatre Arts from the renowned University of Lagos.
